Parents urged to take advantage of free life cover
A personal finance website has reminded parents of the importance of life cover by urging them to take advantage of a recent offer from protection provider Aviva.
Moneyhighstreet.com has noted that the arrival of a newborn can bring with it considerable pressure but parents can get some peace of mind by having family protection.
While launching the product, which provides £10,000 worth of free life insurance for new parents in the UK, Aviva stated that more than half (56 per cent) of parents in the country risked leaving their children with little or no financial protection if they die.
The company explained that the free life cover was just "a fraction" of the protection a family needs, adding that it "recognises that new parents do not always consider, or have the time to purchase, family protection when they have a young baby".
Parents in the UK who register their baby before it is six months old can benefit from the free cover, which will last until their first birthday after which the parents will be required to make their own arrangements.
