Life insurance 'can't be put off'
The importance of life insurance has been highlighted in a column for the Chicago Sun Times.
According to Terry Savage, life insurance is not always something that people like to think about or are willing to take action on as it reminds them of their fallibility.
However, he suggests that unless people are "certain they can postpone their death" it is an issue that should be tackled head on.
Explaining the need for life insurance, Mr Savage said that there are only two certain things in life - death and taxes.
Individuals therefore need to assess whether their families will have adequate cover for these two eventualities in the event of their death - and the expert suggested that the "savage truth" is that this is unlikely to be the case without advanced planning.
He added that it is best to take action sooner rather than later as waiting could lead to people having to pay higher premiums.
Writing for lovemoney.com recently, Jane Baker advised people looking for a new life insurance policy to compare prices quoted by different providers.
